Mailware maintains a complete inventory for you. You can enter as little as the Product Number, or use all the features for more power. The Inventory Product tab includes: A Product #, Short Description and Unlimited Length [Long] Description to identify your products. All 3 fields show up on order search screens, and optionally on invoices, reports etc.   The Order Message appears on the order screen when each item is added. It's great for reminders associated with products (e.g., needs batteries).   The Supplier tracks the vendor associated with each product, and is used automatically by the built in purchase order system.   Product Type - Create your own types and optionally associate them with products. This information is useful when creating reports (e.g., sales tax) and for grouping items.   Pricing - Enter a Retail and/or Wholesale price for each item. The appropriate price is charged on orders according to customer type. If no type is set the price defaults to retail. Prices may be overridden or changed on orders. You can also create Wholesale Only products by not entering a retail price.   Tax Exempt option automatically excludes a product from the sales tax calculation on the order screen.   Shipping Weight, Extra Charge and Ship Cost information is used on the order screen to calculate shipping charges (in conjunction with the new shipping calculator).   Customize is a powerful, and flexible feature useful for messages, instructions etc. (more info is included later in the tour.)
