Delete a Customer

Delete a customer from your database.
 

Instructions
You can permanently delete a customer account if you have not assigned any orders to it.

Note: You may wish to simply mark the account inactive instead of deleting it. You can also select other flags (e.g., Don't Send Email). See the Add a Customer topic for details. 

  1. If you are not already viewing the account you wish to delete you can search for it by clicking the Find Customer button on the toolbar. 
    Or, click here to open the Search screen.

  1. Enter as many fields as you need to locate the customer then click the button or press Enter. 

  2. Matches will appear in the lower half of the screen. Highlight the record you wish to open and either double click it, press Enter or click the OK button. 

  3. When the customer's account is on the screen you can see the number of orders and contacts associated with the customer above the tabs.

  1. If a customer has orders on record you cannot delete the customer account. This prevents orphaned orders. You should mark the account as "Inactive" (See the Add a Customer topic for details.), and cancel the order (See Cancel an Order) if appropriate.

  2. If the customer has contacts on record you can delete the customer account after deleting the individual contacts. To do so click the Contacts tab.

  1. Select contacts one at a time by clicking on them in the grid.


  1. Then click the button at the bottom of the screen to permanently remove the contact.

  2. After all contacts are deleted you can delete the entire customer account. To do so click the on the toolbar at the top of the screen.
