| Q: |
Can Mailware be used on a Network? |
| A: |
Yes. A single copy of Mailware can be used on any one pc at a
time on your Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, NT or 2000 network. If you need simultaneous use, you can purchase
additional low cost Workstations. |
| Q: |
What programming language was used to write
Mailware? |
| A: |
Mailware is written with Delphi - an advanced application
development language from Borland. We consider Delphi the best
development tool available, and the software development community has repeatedly reviewed
Delphi very favorably. |
| Q: |
Can I access Mailware's database with my database
management program? |
| A: |
Mailware's database is ODBC compliant, completely open, and can be accessed
by most database programs (e.g., Access 97). We are currently using DBISM tables. If you
are not sure whether you can read a DBISAM database, please feel free to
contact us.
|
| Q: |
Can I import my data from other programs? |
| A: |
Yes. Mailware includes an Order Import
feature and and Import Wizard for importing
customers from any program that can export its data. Other database tables are accessible
as well if you have a database management program (e.g., Access), and a little experience.
If you need help we can often import your data for
you (see our Data Conversion Service). |
| Q: |
Can Mailware data be exported? |
| A: |
Yes. The included report writer can be used to export any of
Mailware's data. Just run any report and choose File>Export from the menu. Mailware
includes over 100 pre-built reports including many specifically designed to double as
export reports (e.g., FedEx, UPS and several credit card processing reports). You can also
create your own reports to export. |
| Q: |
Does Mailware support credit card processing
software? |
| A: |
Yes. At this time XCharge, PC Authorize, IC
Verify, Authorize Net and PC Charge are fully supported by Mailware. Export support for PC Authorize and Personal Ticket Capture is
also supported. If you have a program not listed below, please contact us. We can
usually create an export utility
for you, and may be able to fully integrate your package with Mailware.
(Note: Full integration means you can run your credit card software directly from within
Mailware. Export utilities create a batch file of each day's orders that can be imported
into your credit card software and transmitted for approval).
Credit card software currently integrated:
- XCharge www.mailware.com/xcharge.htm
- PC
Authorize (single station only)
- PC Charge (single station or network) www.pccharge.com
- Authorize Net (single station or network) www.authorizenet.com
Using xAuthorize communication software www.xauthorize.com/software
- IC Verify (single station or network) www.icverify.com
Export Utilities included in the Report Writer: PC Authorize,
Personal Ticket Capture, ICVerify
Mailware also supports the following Gateways:

| Q: |
Are there any limits on the amount of data I can
store in Mailware? |
| A: |
No. Mailware does not impose any artificial limits on number
of customers, products, orders etc. As with any database program there are theoretical
limits (in the millions), and you will need sufficient hard disk space. Mailware occupies
approximately 20 meg when first installed, and uses an additional meg for every 1,000 or
so customers you add. |
| Q: |
Is Mailware fast? |
| A: |
Yes. Mailware is cutting edge software, and is considerably
faster than its competitors. It will run acceptably on even a 486 with 16 meg of RAM, and
performs best on a Pentium PC. The average search time for a
customer is less than 5 seconds over a network. |
| Q: |
Can I search for customers by multiple fields? |
| A: |
Yes. The search feature supports searching by:
- Customer Name
- Company Name
- Customer Number
- Address
- City
- State
- Zip
- Email
- Phone numbers
- and, any combination of the above
Mailware also includes a filter feature that includes additional
fields and options.
|
| Q: |
Does Mailware support drop ship inventory items? |
| A: |
Yes. Any item can be marked as a drop ship item. Separate
reports can be printed based on this field (so, for example, you can create purchase
orders when drop ship items are sold). You can also specify that you
do not stock these items so backorders will not be generated
automatically. |
| Q: |
Does Mailware work
with UPS Worldship or FedEx software? |
| A: |
Yes. Mailware can exchange data with
each of these software packages. You can enter or import your
orders into Mailware then ship through UPS or FedEx software.
Information such as shipment type (overnight, ground etc.),
weight, shipping address etc. are entered in Mailware and passed
on to the other software package when you ship.
|
| Q: |
Is Mailware Year 2000 compliant? |
| A: |
Yes. Mailware stores the entire 4 digit year so it knows, for
example, that 00 is 2000, not 1900. |
